LUMA Energy
LUMA Energy is responsible for operating and maintaining Puerto Rico's transmission and distribution system. Its responsibilities include restoring service after outages, maintaining power lines and substations, connecting new customers, and modernizing the electrical grid to improve reliability and resilience.
Genera PR
Genera PR manages the operation and maintenance of PREPA's thermal power plants. Its role focuses on improving the reliability and efficiency of electricity generation while supporting Puerto Rico's ongoing transition toward a more diversified energy portfolio.
Together, these organizations form Puerto Rico's modern electric system, with each playing a distinct role in delivering electricity from power plants to homes, businesses, and public facilities throughout the island.
Major Power Plants
Costa Sur Power Plant
Located in Guayanilla, Costa Sur is one of Puerto Rico's largest generating facilities and primarily uses natural gas and petroleum to produce electricity for the southern and western regions of the island.
Aguirre Power Complex
Situated in Salinas, the Aguirre complex has long been one of Puerto Rico's principal power generation facilities. It plays a significant role in supplying electricity to the southern and eastern portions of the island.
San Juan Power Plant
