Arepas de Maiz

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ tazas de harina de maiz
  • 1 ½ tazas de harina (all purpose)
  • 1 huevo
  • 1 cda. de vainilla
  • 1 cda. de baking powder
  • ½ taza de azucar
  • a "pinch" de sal
  • 1 cda. de canela
  • 2-3 tazas de agua tibia

Directions

Mezclar todos los ingridientes de polvo. Añadir el huevo con el agua. Mezclar completo hasta que la mezcla este cremosa (que se pegue un poco a la cuchara). Dejar que la mezcla se enfrie de 3 a 5 horas para que el baking powder funcione. Echar en una caserola pequeña aceite. Freirlas en el aceiete hasta que esten doraditas, tienen que quedar en forma de bolitas.

Contrary to popular belief the Puerto Rican flag is not based on the American Flag, but the Cuban flag. Puerto Rico adopted the same flag design, which was unveiled in 1895. In 1952, the blue field was changed from a light blue to a darker blue, like the American flag.
